Don’t want to wait for the school holidays to attend one of our classes? Or perhaps you can’t commit to a whole term of after school classes. Either way, our Sunday classes could be just what you’re after.
During term times in 2017, we will be running a class each fortnight in either stop motion animation or LEGO Mindstorms robotics.
Stop Motion Sundays
Whether you are a beginner or have done stop motion before, come along to this session to develop your stop-motion animation skills! In this course you will learn how to make your own LEGO stop-motion animated movie. We will cover basic film-making principles, using iStopMotion and LEGO specific techniques used in producing animations that stretch the imagination. If you already know this stuff, great! The class time is for you to make a film, or to continue work on one with an experienced tutor on hand to answer questions and help you polish your film.
This class is 90 minutes long, plenty of time to make a 10-20 second long animation. Did you know that means taking at least 300 photos? That same day we email out a link to download your file so you can show it off!
Junior Robotics Sundays
This 60-minute session will introduce children to programming, robotics, and mechanics in a fun and interactive way! We will use sensors, make noises and think about how to give our robot friend some personality. We will program the robot to spin and then play around with speeds and rotation to complete some challenges.
Please note, if you are planning to stay for the class and bring siblings along, then you need to make a booking for yourself and your remaining children. If you want to play in the LEGO pit either before or after the booked class, then a booking must also be made. We have a 50 person capacity for the building due to fire safety, and take bookings for weekends, public holidays and every day of the school holidays. Bookings must include both adults and children and can be made for up to five people for an hour. If you have a bigger group then you can make multiple bookings.
We have learnt that age is no barrier to learning with LEGO so we do not offer a recommended age for any of our classes. Instead, if your child is aged 8 or younger then a parent must sit alongside the student learning (no extra ticket needed). If your child is 9 or over, we encourage you to stay, participate, and enjoy our coffee delivery service. If you do need to dash off, make sure you leave a contact number with us in the case of an emergency.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for non-attendance, however, if your child is unwell and you give us more than 4 hours notice we may be able to rebook you and fill your space in the class. You could also give your ticket to someone else you know. We reserve the right to make this decision on a case by case basis.
